1. Uluwatu Temple

 Uluwatu Temple in Bali is one of the oldest sea temples here. A popular heritage site, Uluwatu’s temple’s historical importance and its unique architecture attract tourists to it. A large number of monkeys inhabit this temple. The temple is located at the edge of a seventy-meter-high sea cliff.

One of the traditional dance forms of Bali, the Kecak Dance based on Ramayana one of the ancient Hindu Religious text is performed daily in the temple at 6 PM. This temple is also one of the nine key directional temples of Bali. The panoramic beauty of the ocean adds to its popularity.

2. Elephant Caves

This 11th-century cave site in Bali is one of the popular tourist places in Bali. It is also known as Goa Gajah Cave. Near Elephant caves, two streams met and form a river junction therefore this is a sacred place according to the Hindu Religion. It takes about one to two hours to explore Elephant Caves. Proper dressing is required for both men and women to enter the temple. 

Timings: 8 AM to 5.00 PM

Places to visit: Majestic Rain forests, the holy Pond of Patirtaan, and The Seven Fountain Statues.

3. Mother Temple of Besakih

Located at the side of Gunung Agung, an active volcano, this temple is the oldest one in Bali and is an architectural wonder. This temple which belongs to prehistoric times constitutes about 23 temple complexes. It is one of the most important and sacred places in Balinese Hinduism. 

Timings: 8 AM to 5 PM

Places to visit near: Mount Agung, Mount Batur, Taman Edelweis Bali, Telaga Waja River Rafting and Tirta Gangga

4. Taman Ayun Temple

It is one of the magnificent temple complexes in Bali that belongs to the Mengwi Empire. Located on the panoramic Mengwi Village, it is one of the six royal temples of Bali and a major tourist attraction. The famous museum of Manusa Yadnya is located just across the temple complex. 

Timings: 9 AM to 5 PM

Places to visit near: Manusa Yadnya Museum, Alas Kedaton, Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and Tegallalang Rice Terrace

5. Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple is one of the most primitive and famous Buddhist temples in the world, which ranks along with Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Bagan in Myanmar. It is also the world’s largest Buddhist Temple. The temple is the perfect example of the ancient Gunadharama Architecture. Covering an area of 2,500 Meter Square, Borobudur Temple is located in Central Java, Indonesia. 

Timings: 6:30 AM to 4: 30 PM

Places to visit near: Karmawibhanga Museum, amazing and majestic sculptures of the temple, and Prambanan Temple. 

6. Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is one of the popular tourist destinations in Indonesia. This park is constituted of three islands Komodo, Padar and Rinca. Covering an area of 1,733 Square Kilometres, this park was established in the year 1980 to protect the species of Komodo dragon, the largest lizard in the world. Apart from the Komodo dragon, this park is also a haven for a wide variety of marine species. It was in 1991, this park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Komodo Island is also a part of the Coral Triangle, one of the richest marine biodiversity on Earth. July to August is the ideal time to visit the park

7. Ujung Water Palace

One of the famous palaces in Bali that belongs to the Karangasem Regency, this palace is also known as Ujung Park or Sukasada Park. It is one of the famous tourist destinations in Indonesia. This palace consists of three water pools and is in the middle locates in the main building of Gili Bale. The palace was called Waterpaleis during the era of the Dutch East Indies.

Timings: 7 AM to 7 PM

8. Mengening Temple

Mengening Temple is one of the panoramic temple complexes to visit in Bali. Located in the village of Saraseda, it is one of the famous Hindu Pilgrimage sites in Bali. Inside the temple, there is a pool. The pool is a natural spring that dates back to the 11th century. Mengening Temple is also known as Pura Mengening.
