It’s almost end of 2018! Winter is here! Sadly, The Game of Thrones isn’t!

Game of Thrones fans still have no news on when the final season of the Game of Thrones will release and air on HBO. The makers of the show don’t seem to understand the plight of the GOT fans desperate for any update on the release date of Game of Thrones Season 8.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the HBO wants to ensure that the show is eligible for 2019 Emmys. If this is true, all the episodes must be aired before May 2019. Thus, the show must start at least on 21st April to reach that deadline.

Though the Game of Thrones next season is far, here are a few updates about the upcoming season.

How many episodes will the Game of Thrones Season 8 have?

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the show runners of Game of Thrones have confirmed that the show will have a total of 6 episodes. The length of each episode may vary from 60 to 120 minutes.

Will the Game of Thrones Season 8 have any new characters?

According to the Games of Thrones fansite – Watchers of the Wall, Marc Rissmann has been casted as Harry Strickland, the leader of ‘The Golden Company’ (a mercenary company).

The second actor who will be a part of the Season 8 is Seamus O’Hara who will play the role of Fergus. There is no mention of the character Fergus in the book, thus, fans are in for a surprise regarding the role of this character in the finale season.

Thought not a new addition, it appears that Wilf Scolding aka Rhaegar Targaryen (Jon Snow’s father) will also be seen in Season 8. This means that there will be more flashbacks in the Season 8.
