The wait of Call of Duty fans is finally over! Though the game is set to launch next month, fans who have pre-ordered the game now have access to the Beta version. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s private Blackout beta went live on September 10 for PS4 players.
The game begins with players skydiving onto a large island and the last survivor wins. As the game progresses, the battlefield shrinks. Players collect weapons and other gear, battle with other players on the island, save themselves from zombies and other hazards.
The developer Treyarch took to reddit to make the list of alterations public and also confirmed that the beta version will be updated everyday. Some of the updates made on Day 1 were:
- In the testing version, Blackout had 80 players. The recent update in the beta version, however, started with 88 players. The player count will be changed based on the feedback of players.
- The featured game playlist has been changed to Duos.
- Pickup speed has been increased.
The new game has callbacks and elements from previous Black Ops games to keep the spirit of the earlier installments alive. Players can play the game as various Black Ops characters such as Ajax, Mason, Reznov, Seraph and Woods. The island will be 1500 times larger than Nuketown of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty Online. A lot of weapons from the previous guns will be available too. The game also introduces Signature Weapons that can be unlocked by completing challenges.
PS4 beta players will be able to enjoy the game until September 14. The game will then open to Xbox One and PC players who have pre-ordered it. The beta game will close on all platforms on September 17.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
