All you need to know about Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s Brawl

Khabib Nurmagomedov beat Conor McGregor in the fourth round of their UFC lightweight title fight, but the remarkable result was instantly dimmed by a post-fight brawl which eventually resulted in the arrests of three people.

After winning the fight Nurmagomedov hurled himself over the cage and exchanged punches with Dillon Danis(McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach) and soon after an ugly brawl broke out inside the octagon. Taking advantage of the situation, three training partners of Nurmagomedov crossed the fence and attacked McGregor from all angles. One of them delivered blows from behind as McGregor attempted to fend them off.

Security personnel and police eventually separated the two groups. Both McGregor and Nurmagomedov were escorted by Las Vegas police. UFC President Dana White decided not to present Nurmagomedov with his belt due to security concerns.

Three men(associates of Nurmagomedov) involved in the brawl were arrested. However, McGregor refused to press charges against them and they were released.

Here’s how Twitter reacted:

Actions are taken against McGregor and Nurmagomedov.
As a result of the brawl UFC President Dana White said that both McGregor and Nurmagomedov would not receive their guaranteed paychecks of $3 million and $2 million, respectively. The paychecks were withheld by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). However, it was later revealed that McGregor would indeed receive his pay, but Nurmagomedov’s check is being withheld due to his actions after the victory.

White promised that if the men involved in the attack were UFC fighters, they would be suspended. He said that he expected NSAC to give a serious punishment such as a lengthy suspension to Nurmagomedov due to his action.

Following the fight, Nurmagomedov apologized. It was later known that Connor’s provocation was the cause of the brawl. Before the fight, McGregor taunted Khabib about his family and mocked his Islamic faith by offering him a bottle of whiskey.

MMA expert Robin Black made a comment that it was McGregor’s tactic to poke people by commenting about them and take advantage of their emotions. However, in the UFC 229, his trick backfired on him.

The question now is that whether Nurmagomedov will receive his title or will the be a rematch?
