Spectacular Win for Piotr Nurzynski at the EPT Barcelona Main Event..!

The Live event of PokerStars attracted huge number of players from start to finish. In the largest Main Event field held on 2nd September, 2018, two players became millionaires. The title winner was Poland’s Piotr Nurzyński, after he defeated Haoxiang Wang at the heads up.

28 year old Piotr Nurzynski, holds a doctor’s degree. However, he decided to take a break from his profession to travel the world with his girlfriend. They choose travel destinations that allow them to pursue their hobby – surfing. Nurzynski had to return to Europe after he qualified for the EPT Barcelona Main Event online at PokerStars. Though, it was his first on-camera event, he managed to reach to the final table.

Nurzynski qualified for the EPT Barcelona main event through a €250 ($290) satellite on PokerStars. He received €1,037,109 and a pass for PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship Platinum worth US$30,000. The Main Event pulled in a total of 1931 entries. The buy-in was €5,300 and €9,365,350 was the prize pool.  

The final day results commenced with Matthias Tikerpe finishing at 6th place and earning €287,050, followed by Rodrigo Carmo in the 5th place who earned €354,200. The remaining four player made an agreement. Wang backed by his big stack, secured the guaranteed seven-digit payout. And  €180,000 was set aside for the final winner.

Portugal’s Pedro Marques and Bulgaria’s Ognyan Dimov took the fourth and third position. The challenge for the title came down to the final two players, Nurzynski and Wang. Both the players showed their skills throughout the tournament, however, they lacked experience in major tournaments.

In the end both players scored  €1M and Platinum Passes worth $30,000. The former doctor won the pass for being the last online qualifier. Another Platinum pass for $30,000 was set aside for the final winner. However, as each player is allowed only one pass, Wang ended up winning the pass. The tournament was a life-changing one for both the players.
