The Japanese gaming giant announced PlayStation Classic on 19 September 2018. The original PlayStation was the first gadget to commence the end of compact disc gaming. After rival Nintendo’s success with the launch of a mini version of NES and SNES, Sony joins the bandwagon.
When will the device release?
The PlayStation Classic will launch on December 3rd – the 24th anniversary of the PlayStation’s release. The PS1 was first launched in Japan on December 3, 1994, and in Western countries in September 1995. The release date in India has not been revealed yet.
What will be the retail price of PlayStation Classic?
Sony’s retro console will cost $99.99 in the United States, £89.99 in the United Kingdom, €99.99 in Europe and 9,980 Yen in Japan. Indian fans can expect the PlayStation Classic for approx. Rs.7500. However, price and availability details for India have not been revealed yet.
How many pre-installed games will the new PlayStation Classic have?
The PlayStation Classic will come with 20 pre-installed games including the Final Fantasy 7, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, Wild Arms and Jumping Flash. More games will be revealed in the upcoming months. A list of favorites that PlayStation Fans expect to see is doing rounds on the internet. While some fans have requested for Final Fantasy IX, others have requested classics such as Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil.

The console will look similar to the older one but a smaller size. Specifically, it will be 45 percent smaller in size than the original PlayStation. The retro mini PlayStation also comes with a pair of replica controllers. The device comes with a built-in HDMI port so connecting it with your HDMI television should be easy.
The PS1 memory cards will not work in the PlayStation Classic. Files will be saved in virtual memory cards. The replica buttons have actual functions – power button, the open button for swapping virtual discs, the reset button will suspend games.

The play station will be available to pre-order at selected retailers such as GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon across the United States and Canada.
